RESPONSE TO GRIEVANCES FROM STUDENTS BY MAKERERE UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATORS

1. *Re-allocating to students to other universities*
According to the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. William Bazeyo, the adminstrion has never endorsed the visitation committee report that called for the re-allocation of some colleges like CHUSS, CEES among others

2. *Government Scholarships*
The programme can only be abolished by the government itself because it is the supreme force behind the programme. Makerere as a university has no say in the scrapping of the government scholarships

3. *Day and Evening Classes*
Day and afternoon classes are for some few selected courses that could not be self sufficient in sustaining the smooth running of the activities of such courses. The rumour of scrapping evening classes is being engineered by private institutions that are aiming at demoralizing students from applying at Makerere.

4. *Scrapping Exams*
This is a myth that can't happen at Makerere. The administration through the office of the PRO has already written to The Monitor publications to make a formal apology for running that 'false' headline

5. *Feeding Costs*
The Finance Ministry has always remitted shs2,000 for each student till recent adjustments to Ugshs 4,000 were made for each student. Kyambogo University allocates shs 4,500 for each student.

5. *Privatization of Halls*
Halls will not be privatized as rumoured. The University is only mobilizing funds to engineer the refurbishment of these accommodation centres starting with Lumumba hall among others

6. *Tuition Increment*
The policy has only affected a few selected postgraduate courses like the Dental surgery which has got a hike to about shs5m. For some few undergraduate courses, the hike was only at CHUSS were about five courses received a hike but this was seconded by the then _83rd guild president_, H.E Kato Paul. In addition, the visitation committee members advised the University to increase tuition beyond the pay of schools like the Greenhill academy.

7. *Internship Money*
The status quo shall remain so for the case of government students

9. *Internet Connections and Wi-Fi*
SIDA, an international firm has been contracted to champion a broad band blanket that will cover the whole of the university

10. *University Hospital*
"In my 30 years as a medical practitioner, I feel shy to say that Makerere has a hospital", remarks the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. William Bazeyo as he comments about the state of the university hospital. The administration has however assured legislators that a team of engineers have been contracted to refurbish the facility

11. *Lecture Rooms*
Mobilization of funds through by the administration will see the refurbishment of deformed structures. Makerere University Holdings Company (MUHC) has already championed the installment of new teaching facilities. About the Central Teaching Facility and other completed structures, the company says it has still failed to get the adequate furniture as pledged by April though they assure that by next semester, furniture will be installed in these facilities.

12. *Mak Run Funds*
Last year, 2017 shs 287,000,000 was raised while this year shs 137,000,000 was raised. The target amount is shs 15b which shall be used for the construction of a one stop centre

13. *Sex for Marks and Sexual Harassment*
The administration shall continue to punish crusaders of the immorality. Another three time pinned administrator will by the end of today receive a suspension. However, administrators sat the vice is not a monopoly on staff but rather even students

14. *Online Results*
A central marking system was put in place and it is turning out effective. Results can be accessed online for the fully registered students. The system has been down for some while due to technical problems.
